Warning: Spoilers below.
What are you doing on Sunday? Just kidding, I know you're watching the Game of Thrones finale. How else will you find out what's happening at the end of this eight-season slog through the lethal politics of Westeros?
After last Sunday's episode, "The Bells," everything has changed. Thanks to Daenerys' unleashing of the mad Targaryen queen inside her, major characters like Jaime and Cersei Lannister are dead, Tyrion and Jon's former loyalties to the Dragon Queen are assuredly shattered, and there's a horse somehow.
All that's left to see is who will take the Iron Throne. Will it be Dany, now that she's ceased to give a shit? I mean, she can definitely raze the hell out of anyone who stands up against her, and the cycle of complete tyranny and destruction would presumably begin again with a Targaryen in charge. Or will it be Jon, who's been cowering from his duty in the name of unity (and an attraction to his aunt Dany)? Or will one of the remaining Starks step up to the plate?
The events of the season 8, and series, finale are all carefully protected. There are only two hints from HBO about what's to come, in photos released today.
The images show Dany standing in front of what forces remain at King's Landing, and she has presumably announced that she is their queen. Whether she's asking them to bend the knee or wreak further violent havoc is uncertain. Maybe both at the same time!
Then, there's the horrified Tyrion, still wearing his Hand of the Queen pin. Is he trying to reason with Dany? That seems unwise.
All will be revealed in the series finale this Sunday at 9 P.M. EST.
